Alisha sent us a message a few weeks ago saying that she will be releasing a new video soon. She just released that video called "Funeral". We always wanted to do this interview since like forever. So here it is our interview with Alisha. - Ferd Isaacs
Where in Korea are you from?
I'm from Seoul. But I was born in Virginia. I lived in Seoul and Pennsylvania when I was growing up.
My parents named me Alice when I was born. So I had been using that name for my whole life. But I lived in
South America for a while and my friends called me Alicia there, which is like the Spanish version of Alice.
For some reason, I liked that name better and when I decided to rap, I just changed the spelling a bit. To give
it more of a hiphop kinda vibe, lol.
I've always been into hiphop since I was young. I was always listening to them, singing along (or rapping along lol) to my favorite songs. I often imagined becoming a rapper myself, but then I thought maybe it's too unrealistic or whatever. So, I just went to the university, majored in International Business. During the summer of my senior year, I interned at a trade company and after my internship was over, they wanted to hire me for real. That's when I realized I was gonna regret it if I just took that job and never try doing music. So, I took a gap year to put off my
last semester and started doing music.
How long have you been rapping?
I took a gap year in 2015. But, it took me a while to actually get started on music for real cos I had to make some money to buy all the recording equipment, macbook and get my own studio and stuff. I did English tutoring and some translation/interpretation part time jobs so I could afford stuff lol anyways, I officially started working on my first mixtape in December, 2015 and it came out in March, 2016.
What inspires you to write lyrics and be creative?
I'm inspired the most is when I listen to real good beats. When I hear a dope beat, the lyrics just start popping up in my head. As soon as I hear a nice beat, I know what I wanna write about. So I never come up with the topics/lyrics of the song first. The beat has to be there first, then when I come up with the first bar, the rest just comes along.
Describe your style of rapping?
I love the old school, the 90s, boom bap style rapping and I think my preferences have kinda influenced my rapping. Or maybe my voice just naturally suits those kinda songs better. But it doesn't mean that I don't like
trap music. I haven't tried rapping on any trap beats yet tho. I think boom bap beats just bring out my voice better.

What are your plans for the future?
I want more people to recognize me and listen to my music. I also wanna to meet some great producers that
I can work with. Then I also want to collaborate with the musicians I love. It would be so dope!!!
Tell us more about this music video you just released.
It's my very first music video. I worked hard to make it perfect and I hope everyone likes it! I made it with my crew, Cherry Pie. I'm the rapper in our crew and the rest of the members are working as a production team. We're working on a few projects now. "Funeral" is the first one of them. We're gonna make more music videos this year. It's gon be lit!
Are you working on new music?
Yes, I'm constantly looking for new beats and writing new stuff. Right now, there's one more song coming up and we're planning to shoot the MV for it as soon as it's ready. I'm still looking for the perfect rapper for the featuring of the song. Hopefully, I can find someone soon and as soon as I do, that song will be good to go for the video cuz my verse is already done. It's recorded and everything! And other than that incomplete song, I'm also gonna shoot another music video for one of the tracks in my mixtape. Coming soon!
