One of the contestants in the High School Rapper competition was the fiery MC Kim Hye Jung. She really stood out with her delivery and cadence. She also released a mixtape called, 99% on Soundcloud. Our curator Ferd Isaacs sat down with her for a moment.
Where in South Korea are you from?
I'm from Pyeongtaek.
How long have you been rapping?
I think I started rapping when I was 14 years old.
What made you start rapping?
Actually I wasn't talented when I first started rapping. But I was learning guitar at the time, so I composed my
own song and wrote lyrics for it. After doing that I started to write stories in my songs. I really love to do it because I'm not good at telling others my opinions. That is why I started to rap.
Describe your style of rapping?
Umm ... maybe an epicene voice?
Do you have like a rap name/stage name?
I'm sorry but I don't have a rap name yet.
How did you get onto the High School Rapper show?
My friend tagged on Facebook that the show High School Rapper is recruiting rappers. So I sent my video to Mnet.
In the music industry who do you look up to?
Umm.. Jessie? I think so .. I learned a lot of things from her.

September 10th
