Two weeks ago our Senior Korean editor, the great Soo Yeon Kim stumbled upon a promising talented MC by the name of Onit. She immediately had to find out more about who she is and what she is all about. Here it is raw and uncut.

I am Si-on Kim, who goes by the name of Onit. I was born in 2002, which makes me 17 in Korean age. I dream of becoming a rapper.

Where are you from?
I’m currently living in Namwon, Jeollabuk-do, and I’m planning to move near Seoul some months later.
What is the meaning of your rap name?I’m currently living in Namwon, Jeollabuk-do, and I’m planning to move near Seoul some months later.
The word “Onit” has a great meaning in itself, and I also got from my actual name, Si-“On”.
What made you start rapping?
It's very simple. I'm not a good singer, so I only rapped when I wasa at the karaoke. This initiated my rapping career.
How long have you been rapping?
For about 2 - 3 months.
Describe your rap style.
I'm still struggling to find my own color. I'm trying out every style except agressive rap.Everything around me. I even get inspired from fallen leaves on the streets.
Are you currently part of a crew? If so, what is the name of it?
I am not in a crew right now.When is your birthday?
Do you have any siblings?
Im an only child. That's part of the reason why my family members don't want me to rap.
What is your favorite Korean food?
I like Kimchi-jjigae (Kimchi stew) the most.
Which rapper do you look up to?
I respect the underground rapper Choi Sam.

Onit이란 단어 자체에 멋진 뜻도 담겨있고, 제
이름 시온이에서 따와서 onit이 된 거에요.
랩을 하게 된 계기가 무엇인가요?
굉장히 간단해요. 노래를 못 불러서 노래방 가면 랩만 부르다가 시작 했어요.

일상에서 소소한 것 모든 게 주제가 돼요. 지나가다 떨어진 낙엽을
보고 영감을 받을 때도 있어요!
