Where in Korea are you from?
I live in Uijeongbu, South Korea

What is the meaning of your rap name?
The name "MATO" originated from the word, "tomato". The nickname was given to me because my face would turn red like a tomato. I took out the first two letters of the word because I thought it would sound too silly to have it as a rap name so I named myself, "MATO"

What made you start rapping?
I actually used to break-dance which naturally introduced me to hip hop. I started out rapping after I saw a rapper perform at one of the dance battle I participated in. I thought it was really cool that you can deliver your thoughts through rap and through music.

How long have you been rapping?
I started rapping on May 7th 2009 to be exact.

Describe your style of rapping
There isn't an exact word to define my style of rapping but I prefer to rap about my daily life or the emotions and experiences I've had in relationships. So it's far from dissing about an imaginary person like shadowboxing. I like it when it's sweet and fluffy - as perhaps a marshmallow.

What is your date of birth?
My birth date is February 28th 1994.

What is your Facebook/Instagram/twitter?
Facebook: www.facebook.com/jeongmato
Instagram: @945mato
Twitter: @MATO507 (I have an account but I don't use it.)

Who are your favorite rappers/singers/musicians?
To name a few of my favorite rappers from outside of Korea are: Drake, Big Sean, KR, J.Cole and many more. Some of the Korean rappers I enjoy are: Jay Park, Loco, Giriboy, Nafla, Dean, Zion.T, Crush and also many more. I honestly listen to all hip hop artists and I also have a wide range to taste in music. An indie artist named Cheeze is one of my favorites as well.

Who are your favorite producers?
Gray, but to be honest I don't know much about producers.

What are your plans for the future?
I am going to make music where I can enjoy and be happy while doing so, just like how I am now. I want to become famous and I want to stay a child in the field I love. I'm going to make music that a lot of people can relate to. This is my first time doing an interview so please bear with me. I also hope that you will listen to my music! Thank you so much for taking the time to interview me.
